Message of Thanks

June and Mike Ricketts send their heartfelt thanks to all the helpers who joined them last Friday at the Arena and helped to build the pistes at Bluebell PC’s new home.

You were all so generous with your time and worked so hard. We really appreciate every thing you did. Let’s hope we get to spend many happy times playing Petanque, all together at the Arena.

Much love June x

5th Birthday BBQ

P1200711 (FILEminimizer)

IMG_20150725_204400a (FILEminimizer)Mansfield PC held their 5th birthday party on Saturday 25th July 2015 at Titchfield Park in fine conditions.

Over 40 members attended and were treated to an evening of petanque and a wonderful BBQ courtesy of MPC with Mike and June at the helm, pictured. There was a great mouthwatering selection of food on offer which quickly “disappeared”.

Informal games of boules preceeded the meal and carried on afterwards with the boule in the hole competition. From nine metres distance, each player had three boule to try to sink one in the hole and the first to succeed was Jean, then Steven and Gary completing the first round with one each. No-one holed in the second round but Steven made it his first prize in the next. Gary claimed second with Jean third.

Sincere thanks to Mike and June, Valerie for the raffle and everyone who helped in the kitchen and in any way to make the evening a success.

Mansfield PC versus Fernwood PC Friendly Challenge, 27th July 2015

P1200713 (FILEminimizer)
The friendly competition for intermediate players took place at Mansfield’s Titchfield Park and started in dry conditions that eventually turned typically English summery, wet.

All who turned up to play or watch were involved and played in two triples and three doubles games twice. John and Keith selected their teams and a rather close battle commenced. After nine of the ten games were completed Mansfield led 5 – 4 with one to finish playing. This was a tense affair as the scores crept up and the game could go either way but eventually Mansfield got the required thirteen points to give Mansfield the victory six games to four.

Well played Fernwood team who are proving to be worthy opposition and are improving all the time. Thanks to Valerie and Janet for the lovely lunch after the event.

The day was indeed played in a pleasant, informal manner and we look forward to more such competitions in the future.
